Our Story

Penderyn Community Centre is based in a beautiful rural village on the edge of the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, an area of ‘Outstanding Natural Beauty’ in the heart of ‘Waterfall Country’. The famous Four Falls Trail, Penderyn Distillery and our mountains attracts tens of thousands of visitors from across the world to our area.

The Community Centre in Penderyn aims to address many local challenges, It operates a thriving Community Centre, with a small staff and dedicated volunteer teams who support the work of the Centre.

Penderyn Village Pantry re-distributes surplus foods etc. from 10 local stores, and our Community Woodland (Yr Eithin) has successfully won the Keep Wales Tidy 'Community Green Flag' award for the past 2 years. Both are managed and supported by staff and volunteers.

The Community Centre played a crucial role during the Pandemic providing key services to our Key workers i.e. Childcare, Food Parcels and continues to support the community with the ongoing cost of living crisis. The Village Pantry project has enabled further engagement with our community and our neighbouring communities.

In early 2024, RCTCBC confirmed that funding from the Welsh Government had been approved for the renovation of the Community Centre, the schedule of work is planned to complete on time, and we will plan to reopen the Community Centre in June 2025 with a Community event that will welcome everyone to the newly renovated centre.

The new and improved layout will allow more distinct and varied spaces in which an array of events, activities and sessions can be held. The new surroundings will enable Cylch Meithrin Penderyn  to provide an attractive and accessible environment in which to support children and their families for local childcare.

We will host our community in the newly furnished Blas y Bannau room with an improved internal layout and external space, offering a 'Pop up Café – a much-needed service here in Penderyn.
